The best full paper award at LBS2023 went to Eva Nuhn, Kai Hamburger and Sabine Timpf from University of Augsburg, Germany for their full paper on “Mapping olfactory cues for wayfinding – A theoretical approach and an empirical study”.
The winner of the best short paper award at LBS2023 is “Towards Personalized Pedestrian Route Recommendation Based on Implicit Visual Preference”, authored by Lin Che, Martin Raubal and Peter Kiefer from ETH Zurich.
Papers accepted for the category “Work in progress” are published in the Proceedings of the 18th International Conference on Location Based Services.
We are happy to announce that ISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information (IJGI, ISSN 2220-9964) is now a co-sponsor of LBS 2023 conference. IJGI is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal on geo-information. It provides an advanced forum for the science and technology of geographic information. The journal is owned by the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) and is published monthly online by MDPI.
ISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information publishes regular research papers, reviews and communications. Its aim is to encourage scientists to publish their experimental and theoretical results in as much detail as possible. There is no restriction on the maximum length of the papers. The full experimental details must be provided so that the results can be reproduced.
We are happy to announce that ESRI Belux is now a co-sponsor of LBS 2023 conference. ESRI BeLux is the official distributor of ArcGIS for Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
We have activated the registration page. The early bird registration discount ends on 15 October 2023.
Please note at least one author of each accepted oral/showcase presentation must register for the conference by 15 October 2023.
Information on travel grants has been published. Priority will be given to PhD/MSc/BSc students with an accepted submission. Please submit your application by 1 October 2023.

Due to multiple requests and the holiday season, the deadline for work-in-progress submissions has been extended to September 1. We also welcome showcase submissions. Accepted work-in-progress submissions will be published in the online proceedings of the conference (with a DOI), openly available on the conference website. See all important dates here.
